CPEU Course Description

Motivational interviewing (MI) allows the patient to take the lead with making necessary lifestyle changes.  This CPEU course explains motivational interviewing methods and techniques and illustrates through example interviews how dietitians / nutritionalists can use MI in their practice to help their patients make the changes required to control their diabetes.

  2. Explain the roles within the partnership between dietitian / nutritionalist and patient.

  5. Identify a common error in diabetes care on the part of the dietitian / nutritionalist.
  6. Describe what is most effective in helping patients change their behaviors.
