CEU Course Description

Women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have elevated risk of developing type 2 diabetes.  Diet quality plays an important role in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.  This CEU course examines diet quality in relation to a history of GDM in a nationally representative sample of childbearing women in the United States.

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Discuss the behavior that has the potential to delay or prevent progression to type 2 diabetes in high-risk populations.
  2. Investigate which dietary components women with a history of GDM had significantly lower consumption of compared with women without a history of GDM.
  3. Examine what is recommended for all women at increased risk of type 2 diabetes be counseled about.
  4. Identify the dietary component for which greater consumption was associated with a reduction in the risk of type 2 diabetes.
