CPEU Course Description

Evidence suggests that fasting, during which only water is consumed, results in potentially health promoting physiological effects.  This CPEU course describes adverse events (AEs) that occurred during medically supervised, water-only fasting.

CPEU Course Objectives

  1. Enumerate five health-promoting physiologic responses to fasting.
  2. Describe the Buchinger Method of fasting.
  3. Summarize what is necessary for the safe implementation of water-only fasts.
  4. Identify which conditions water-only fasting has been utilized for the treatment of since the 1970’s.
  5. Provide the adverse event that was experienced by those fasting but is not reported to occur in response to fasting.
